Russian Union of Right-holders

Russian Union of Right-holders (RUR) was created by the cultural art workers in order to realize and protect the rights of the intellectual activity’s results.

The basic direction of the Russian Union of Right-holder’s activity is a collective management of the rights of authors, performers and phonogram producers and audiovisual products to receive the remuneration for free reproduction of phonograms and audiovisual products exclusively for private purposes. The given remuneration is a subject to payment by producers and importers of the equipment and the material carriers used for such reproduction, at their import on customs territory of the Russian Federation.

The union carries out collective management of the rights on the basis of agreements of transfer of powers on management of the rights of the right holders among which physical persons, Russian and foreign organizations on management of the rights on a collective basis.
 

The Russian Union of Right-holders acts in accordance with articles 1245 and sub item 4 item 1 article 1244 of the Civil code of the Russian Federation and the regulation of the Government of the Russian Federation “About the remuneration for free reproduction of phonograms and audiovisual products for private purposes” of October 14th 2010 829.

On 24th September 2010 Rosohrankultura (the Ministry of Culture Department) accredited RUR as the sole society to collect and distribute remuneration for the authors, performers and phonogram producers and audiovisual products for free reproduction of phonograms and audiovisual products for private purposes within the territory of the Russian Federation. It means that only the Russian Union of Right-holders has the right to act on behalf of an unlimited number of authors, performers and phonogram producers and audiovisual products, collect and distribute money to the right-owners (the order of Rosohrankultura of 24th September 2010 year 167).
